TRAIN LIKE A GIRL
This project addresses a long-standing but often normalized issue in women’s athletics: the disruption or loss of menstruation due to the demands of high-intensity training. Studies have reported that over 60% of female athletes experience Athletic Amenorrhea, where menstrual cycles are disturbed or absent due to physical stress on the body. This project reframes the menstrual cycle as valuable physiological data rather than something to ignore through a women-specific training log that helps runners track their cycle alongside training, symptoms, and recovery. The visual system uses a bold blood-red palette to challenge stigma and position menstruation as a symbol of confidence, while typography is intentionally bold yet fragile, reflecting both the strength of female athletes and the cyclical rhythms of the body. The concept also extends into a companion app that tracks key health metrics and uses AI to adapt training recommendations based on an athlete’s cycle phase and symptoms, empowering female athletes to train with greater awareness and confidence
